Reference Guide · 6-8 min read · Covers all outgoing transaction labels · Affects disposal and cost basis tracking
Whenever crypto leaves your wallet or exchange account, KoinX records it as an outgoing transaction. By default, outgoing transactions are labelled as External Withdrawal. This label is suitable for simple transfers to another wallet or exchange that you own. However, not every outgoing transaction is just a withdrawal. You may have staked your assets, lent them, sent them to a liquidity pool, bridged them to another blockchain, repaid a loan, or made a donation. Choosing the correct transaction label helps KoinX understand why the crypto left your wallet so it can classify the transaction correctly and apply the appropriate tax treatment when generating your tax report.
If you’re unsure which label to choose, ask yourself “Why did I send this crypto?” The answer usually points you to the correct transaction label.

Staking, Lending & Locked Assets

Use these labels when you’re temporarily locking or committing your crypto while still retaining ownership. These transactions are generally not taxable on their own.
Use this label when you stake crypto through an exchange or directly on-chain to earn staking rewards or participate in network validation.Related labels: Staking Interest, UnstakeWhy is choosing the correct label important? If this transaction remains labelled as External Withdrawal, KoinX may incorrectly treat it as crypto leaving your ownership instead of assets being staked. This can affect cost basis tracking and the tax treatment of your staking activity.
Use this label when you lend your crypto through a lending platform, DeFi protocol, or directly to another party.Related label: Lend SettlementWhy is choosing the correct label important? Leaving this transaction labelled as External Withdrawal may cause KoinX to treat it as a disposal instead of a lending activity, resulting in inaccurate tax reporting.
Use this label when you lock crypto as collateral to borrow funds or open a leveraged position.Related label: Collateral UnlockWhy is choosing the correct label important? If this transaction is left as External Withdrawal, KoinX may incorrectly classify the collateral as permanently leaving your ownership instead of being temporarily locked.
Use this label when you lock crypto in a fixed deposit, savings product, or earn program for a fixed period.Related label: Fixed Deposit UnlockWhy is choosing the correct label important? Leaving this transaction labelled as External Withdrawal may prevent KoinX from recognising that the assets are temporarily locked rather than disposed of.

DeFi & Cross-Chain Transfers

Use these labels when you move crypto between blockchains or deposit assets into DeFi protocols. These transactions are generally not taxable by themselves.
Use this label when you bridge assets from one blockchain to another while retaining ownership of the assets.Related label: Receive from BridgeWhy is choosing the correct label important? Leaving this transaction as External Withdrawal may cause KoinX to treat the bridge transfer as a disposal instead of a transfer between your own wallets.
Use this label when you deposit crypto into a liquidity pool, farming protocol, or another DeFi application.Related label: Receive from PoolWhy is choosing the correct label important? If this transaction remains labelled as External Withdrawal, KoinX may not recognise that the assets were deposited into a pool. This can affect how your DeFi activity is reported.

Loan Repayments & Other Outgoing Transactions

Use these labels when you’re repaying borrowed assets, making payments, or permanently transferring ownership of your crypto.
Use this label when you repay crypto that you previously borrowed from a lending platform or another party.Related label: Borrow / Receive LoanWhy is choosing the correct label important? If this transaction remains labelled as External Withdrawal, KoinX may not recognise it as a loan repayment, which can affect the overall treatment of your borrowing activity.
Use this label when you voluntarily donate crypto to a charity, organisation, or individual without receiving anything in return. Why is choosing the correct label important? Donations often have different tax treatment than regular disposals. Using the correct label helps KoinX apply the appropriate tax treatment based on your jurisdiction.
Use this label when you transfer crypto to another person as a genuine gift without receiving payment or compensation. Why is choosing the correct label important? Gifts may have different tax implications than sales or transfers, depending on your country’s tax rules. Using the correct label helps KoinX classify the transaction appropriately.
Use this label when crypto becomes permanently inaccessible due to lost private keys, forgotten recovery phrases, or other irreversible circumstances. Why is choosing the correct label important? Leaving these transactions as External Withdrawal may not accurately reflect the reason the assets left your portfolio, which can affect tax reporting where loss relief is available.
Use this label when crypto is intentionally destroyed by sending it to an unrecoverable burn address. Why is choosing the correct label important? Using the correct label helps KoinX distinguish token burns from standard withdrawals and apply the appropriate tax treatment where applicable.

Before You Generate Your Tax Report

Before generating your tax report, review any transactions that are still labelled as External Withdrawal. If they actually represent staking, lending, bridging, loan repayments, donations, gifts, burns, or other specialised crypto activities, update the label accordingly. Using the correct transaction labels helps KoinX accurately classify your transactions, apply the appropriate tax treatment, and generate a more reliable tax report.
